- Buffet B12 Clarinet Serial Numbers
- Buffet Clarinet Serial Numbers E11 Number
- Buffet E11 Serial Number Year
Jean Louis Buffet was already making musical instruments as early as the 1840's. In 1871, Leon Crampon became a partner. Windows 7 64-bit prices. If you come across an 'F' preceding the serial number of an R13, this indicates that the instrument has been built to an A442 - A444 and is intended for use by European ensembles.
HiI have a Buffet Crampon clarinet that beloned to my father. I recently dug it out from its hiding place. it's in pretty sad shape (meaning, it needs new pads and corks to start with. no cracks or anything. just been neglected after heavy use 30+ years ago so needs pretty serious TLC).
But I've been wondering what model this is. I've been told it's an R13, but would like to verify if possible. I know when he bought it, he 'splurged for a very nice one'. But that's the extent I know of the instrument. I tried using the serial number lookup tool everybody seems to use to figure out the model number, but none of those site seem to be working or available anymore and I can't find SN-model lookup tool doing a standard web search.
So I was hoping someone might be able to help me point to the right direction.
from some of the web sites I've encountered, relevant info that might help identifying is this:
- wood body
- no model number markings or plates near any of the emblems
- BC emblems are 'bare' stamped into the body (no gold paint or ink used, and the lines are very thin/fine. most are getting worn down so it's getting difficult to see)
- SN is 147xxx, which puts it to manufactured in 1974 or so
- engraved 'made in france'
- no model number or any markings around register key (only key I know the name!)
- keys appear to be nickel or nickel plated (getting tarnished though. but color just doesn't look like silver so I'm assuming it's nickel plated)
is there a web site that can further help me narrow down the information, or is the above information enough to identify the model? if there is measurement to make or any distinguishing part I can look for, please let me know. However, I know nothing of the anatomy of a clarinet, so instructions will have to be suitably 'dumbed down' if I need to look for a certain part
